How we add value
We have a proven track record in education outreach, understanding school needs and developing impactful programmes. Our expertise helps create, evaluate and enhance engagement activities, from local activities to nationwide programmes. Our Neon website connects schools with quality outreach activities, all free of charge. Schools value our resources and activities, which are now promoted under the EUK Education brand.
Collaboration is important to us, and we offer strategic support through Corporate Membership, partnerships and The Tomorrow’s Engineers Code. We continuously improve through research and feedback, sharing best practice with our members and networks and via Tomorrow’s Engineers. We target and prioritise underrepresented groups and conduct comprehensive research to inform programme development and policy recommendations.
Outreach expertise and brand recognition
We understand the education and careers landscape. We know how schools operate, what they need and how to work with them.
We’ve been developing our own outreach and working with countless other organisations on their programmes and activities for many years. We share our expertise to help you create, evaluate and develop engagement activities for maximum impact. From your on-stand activity for The Big Bang Fair to a nationwide programme, we’re here to support you.
Schools love what we do. From our programmes and events to free resources and signposting to top notch engagements activities from other providers. We bring together our activities for schools under the EUK Education brand. We build on the brand recognition of our programmes to boost the reach of these activities and promote yours.
Learn moreShared insights and continuous improvement
We bring a wealth of knowledge from our long history of research and evaluation and a deep understanding of how schools operate. This enables us to develop tailored programme structures and content that meet the needs of schools, teachers and students.
We believe in innovation, continuous improvement and learning from what has worked well and what needs improvement. We look for scalable solutions for existing programmes, building on proven success rather than reinventing the wheel. We trial, test and iterate our programmes based on student and teacher feedback so they work for everyone. This approach, which draws on evaluation and data insight, allows for flexibility and learning. We want to use our learnings to help improve outreach across the UK. So, we share valuable insights from our own programmes and the wider community. We share best practice, tools and resources through Tomorrow’s Engineers.
Promoting quality outreach
We want schools to have easy access to a trusted source of the best engineering outreach activities in the UK. All activities featured on the Neon website meet our quality criteria, including around careers messaging, inclusivity, learning outcomes and raising aspirations. We offer outreach providers the opportunity to feature on Neon. There are no fees for providers or for schools. Neon connects schools to experiences in their local area, ensuring that teachers can find experiences that are right for their students. Providers can say where their activity is available and which schools can see it. We are also able to exclusively target schools with the highest proportion of young people from underrepresented groups.
Discover NeonCollaboration and strategic support
Collaboration is at the heart of our approach. We facilitate learning and sharing across the community, creating a supportive network with a common aim. Our Corporate Membership offers strategic support for outreach development and delivery, along with bespoke insights and research.
We have a long history of working in strategic partnership with organisations across education, business and with government. And our in-house expertise in careers, EDI (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) and environmental sustainability further enhances the value we bring to our collaborations.
Through membership, The Tomorrow’s Engineers Code and Tomorrow’s Engineers Live we offer support at different levels. We share our expertise while encouraging and facilitating conversation and collaboration across the STEM outreach community through our networks.
Prioritising underrepresented groups
We need more diversity in the workforce, so we target our activities for schools to reach underrepresented groups. Each year we analyse school data to identify schools most likely to have high proportions of students from groups underrepresented in engineering and technology.
We target our marketing to these priority schools. We prioritise these schools for places on our programmes, ringfence some activities so they are only available to our priority schools. We also offer bursaries to these schools to help remove barriers to participation.
Comprehensive research
Our programme of research looks at all aspects of the industry and education pathways into it. Our expert analysis allows you to see what engineering and technology looks like today, the current talent pool and skills demands of the future. We also analyse STEM careers provision in education and survey young people and their influencers to understand their views of engineering and tech careers.
We draw on our research and consultations to identify challenges and areas for improvement. From these we make policy recommendations to encourage government, education and industry to create an environment that encourages more young people from all backgrounds to choose STEM careers.
