2018 is the Year of Engineering

Jan 15, 2018

EngineeringUK is proud to support the Year of Engineering. A government campaign, which celebrates the world and wonder of engineering, the Year of Engineering aims to shake up people’s ideas about engineering, inspiring the next generation of innovators, inventors and problem solvers by showing them what engineers actually do.

Throughout the year we will be joining forces with government and industry to give thousands of young people inspiring experiences of engineering, as part of the campaign to tackle the engineering skills gap and widen the pool of young people who join the profession.

The campaign will encourage young people from all backgrounds to take a closer look at engineering, challenging stereotypes and showcasing the variety and creativity of this forward-looking and innovative sector.

Former Chair of the Science and Technology Select Committee, Stephen Metcalfe MP will act as an advisor for the campaign, engaging with industry and government on tackling the engineering skills gap and widening the pool of young people who enter the profession.

EngineeringUK will be supporting the campaign through the Tomorrow’s Engineers and Big Bang programmes and by working with employer and educators to inspire tomorrow’s engineers.
