Today is ‘Celebration Friday’ of National Apprenticeship Week and we’re marking the occasion by showcasing our very own apprentices, Rob Elliott and Macy Richardson.Rob Elliott is EngineeringUK’s Finance Apprentice and he has been doing his apprenticeship for 7 months now. In this video, he talks about why he chose to do an apprenticeship, what the benefits are and what it is really like.Macy Richardson is EngineeringUK’s PR Apprentice and she has almost completed her apprenticeship, and is now working towards her end-point assessment. In this video, Macy interviews our Chief Executive, Dr Hilary Leevers, about the significance of having weeks like National Apprenticeship Week. They also discuss the importance of apprenticeships for the engineering and technology sector and how they will help to deliver the skilled, diverse workforce of the future.
Macy has also written a blog on her experience during her apprenticeship and how it has opened up new opportunities and doors to her.In this video, Macy interviews Dr Hilary Leevers about the launch of a new inquiry into the worrying decline in engineering, manufacturing and technology apprenticeships. The inquiry was launched by former Labour and Conservative ministers Lord Knight and Lord Willets, supported by EngineeringUK. Macy asks Hilary to go into detail on the background of this inquiry, what it intends to achieve and how and why people can get involved.
