This week marks National Apprenticeship Week across the UK and we will be joining the celebration by sharing content and highlighting resources to promote vocational routes into engineering.
National Apprenticeship Week brings together businesses and apprentices across the country to shine a light on the positive impact that apprenticeships make to individuals, businesses and the wider economy.
The theme for this year is ‘build the future’. This reflects how apprenticeships can help individuals develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career, and businesses to develop a talented workforce that is equipped with future-ready skills.
Vocational routes lead to rewarding careers
Apprenticeships are an essential pathway to engineering if we want to increase the diversity and number of young people entering engineering careers.
We are proud to be an apprenticeship employer, and we hope more organisations follow our example by recruiting apprentices and opening a new doorway to young people.
Throughout the week we will be continuing our mission to inspire the next generation of engineers by sharing the Engineer your future presentation resource which can be found on the Tomorrow’s Engineers website. We have a resource on vocational and apprenticeship routes into engineering which can be found on Neon. There are also inspiring case studies on Neon about Rolls Royce, Wrigley and Crossrail.
Take a look at our Public Relations apprentice’s blog all about her experience of being an apprentice at EngineeringUK.
Coinciding with National Apprenticeship Week, our most recent briefing on levelling up engineering skills provides an insight into what young people and their parents know about the different vocational routes into engineering.
Join the celebration on social media by using the hashtags #NAW2022 and #BuildTheFuture.
