Supporting our work

If we’re to engage and nurture a pool of future engineers and technicians, we need widescale interventions to inspire them through their STEM journey. Our work can help the industry nurture a diverse talent pipeline. But we can’t do it alone.

All our programmes, activities and resources are completely free for schools to access. Financial support helps us develop and deliver these activities, to support more schools and reach more young people. Our partners help us design, deliver and run these programmes and expand their reach.

Outreach programmes

We design inspiring, curriculum-linked programmes for schools so all young people get a chance to be hands-on with STEM. Our programmes offer opportunities to meet and learn from people working in engineering and tech careers. We don’t charge schools to take part.

If you’re keen to support programmes such as the Big Bang, Energy Quest or the Climate Schools Programme – and you want to inspire more young people to consider engineering careers – then get in touch. There are many ways you can get involved.

The Big Bang

Our Big Bang programme helps young people discover exciting possibilities and connect to inspiring role models in STEM.

There's the UK's largest annual STEM event for young people, The Big Bang Fair, which features The Big Bang Competition awards ceremony. The Competition rewards young people’s science, engineering and technology project work and crowns the UK Young Engineer, UK Young Scientist of the Year and UK Young Technologist of the Year, supported by Siemens. Winners and competitors get a chance to showcase their work to MPs, peers and industry leaders at Big Bang at Parliament. Then there's Big Bang at School, designed for teachers to engage their students with some Big Bang STEM magic in the classroom.

Tomorrow's Engineers Week

A national campaign celebrating engineering careers to inspire the the next generation. Each year, thousands of students across the UK participate in free, engaging activities like Q&A sessions with engineers, assemblies, lessons and more. So, whether you’re an engineer, STEM professional, educator or part of an engineering organisation, your involvement can make a real difference.

Bursaries

We want more young people to consider careers in engineering and technology. Every year we offer bursaries to support schools to inspire young people from groups that are underrepresented in engineering. These bursaries are funded by donations from a range of sources. The full bursary goes directly to the school and can be used flexibly to deliver STEM activities or enhance the experience for their students.
