This briefing report containing findings from research conducted with 800 STEM teacher across the UK aims to understand STEM teachers knowledge and perceptions of routes into engineering and technology.

Key findings

  • 83% of STEM teachers said they knew which subjects their students would need to take in order to have a career in engineering
  • 85% of STEM teachers would recommend a career in engineering
  • There was an even split between a university and apprenticeships as being the best route into engineering, with 36% of teachers selecting each respectively
