"We welcome the vision shown by the government today in the Queen's Speech. The government's commitment to raise standards and improve the quality of education across the UK is exciting.
“It is especially pleasing to hear the government reaffirm their commitment to reforming UK energy, and to empower a UK infrastructure bank to drive net zero and green growth. We are keen to emphasise that engineering and tech skills will be central to deliver on these promises, and we want to see the government provide the UK with the world leading STEM skills base that is needed to meet their ambitions. We and many others have long argued for the government to build a strong understanding of the nation's skills needs and a workable plan to deliver them. We hope that the continued commitment to levelling up will deliver legislation that will unlock the potential of everybody everywhere.
“We look forward to working across government departments to help develop some of the detail that will ensure that the ambition outlined in today's Queen's Speech is met across this Parliament."
