Are you passionate about your work in STEM and keen to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers? Applications are now open to volunteer with the Big Bang.
The Big Bang Fair and Big Bang Competition couldn’t run without the hard work of volunteers. Everyone plays a vital role to make the Big Bang magic happen - from facilitating activities to being guest speakers and judging student projects.
Volunteering with the Big Bang offers a unique experience to build your personal development, network with like-minded STEM professionals and take part in a truly life-changing CPD opportunity.
Make a difference
The Big Bang gives professionals across STEM sectors the chance to give back to their profession and make a difference in young people's lives.
Following The Big Bang Fair 2022, 75% of students said that attending The Fair made them want to do more STEM activities, and following their visit 63% of students believed they could become an engineer if they wanted to.
95% of students taking part in The Big Bang Competition said they enjoyed the process, and over 70% said they improved vital problem solving and communication skills.
Be a judge
Discover amazing STEM projects from incredible young people with The Big Bang Competition. Could you help find the next science or engineering superstars? Volunteer as a judge and help the Big Bang reward young people's skills and accomplishments.
Volunteers will need to commit up to 8 hours over 2 weeks, between 4 April and 19 April 2023.

Join in at The Big Bang Fair
Join in at The Big Bang Fair from Wednesday 21 to Friday 23 June 2023 at The NEC in Birmingham. Volunteers will work in a range of roles to bring science and engineering to life and inspire the next generation at the STEM event of the year.
Volunteers will need to commit to at least one full day at The Big Bang Fair, and lunch will be provided to all volunteers.
